Hello! My name is Ketakii Jewson-Brown. I’m a Sunshine Coast based photographer whose images play with notions of reality whilst investigating the body politic along a gradient from the naturalistic to the absurd. Using photography, mixed media, collage and animation my work poses questions about biases and ideas related to societal norms.

I have exhibited at Horizon Festival in 2018 and 2023, in 2020 at Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre, The Old Ambulance Station, Floating land, both Caloundra and Noosa Regional Galleries in 2023 and at the The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra in 2008 and in 2015.

My work has been described as “authenticity colliding with the absurd”. Drawing on the body politic, the surrounding natural environment and the boundaries of bias, my imagery asks you to question why you think the way you do about bodies, nudity, nature, playfulness and absurdity.

Combining metaphor, gentle provocation and a sense of play, I hope to create an altered way of seeing, a reminder of our innate playful and sensual natures as humans and a chance to reflect and be curious. I aim to highlight the magic in people and places around me whilst celebrating and capturing the beauty of all types of bodies and challenging our ideas around normal and mainstream beauty.
